student programs
a pathway from Year 5 to Year 12
Live, in-person body image and nutrition education that grows with your students. Each level builds on the last, so young people keep coming back to what they've learnt and making it work in real life.
Delivered in person in schools across Victoria, with interstate bookings coming in 2027.
foundations · Years 5–6
A two-part program across students' last two years of primary school, so they head into high school with a strong foundation.
Part 1 · Year 5: my amazing body. How characters in books, movies and TV shape the way we see bodies. Students learn how and why our bodies change, how to celebrate the body they're in, and how to support a friend.
Part 2 · Year 6: food for joy. The role food plays in our lives, from energy and sport to culture and celebrations. Students explore how place, occasion, culture and time of day shape what we eat. They learn to spot red and green flags in health advice, and how fibre gives long-lasting energy.
For families: talking to young people about food and their body. A parent session, online or in person, that pairs with Foundations.
level 1 · typically Years 7 & 8
Part 1: body image in my teen years. Where body image pressure comes from: body commentary, film and TV, fashion, AI and social media. We look at how body trends have changed over time, practise kind language to support a friend, and build strategies for body appreciation. Students also hear a lived-experience story, usually Gel's own.
Part 2: fuelling a growing body. Food and puberty, honouring hunger at school, and what macro- and micronutrients look like in breakfasts and lunchboxes. We also cover digestion 101 and embracing culture and food preferences.
level 2 · typically Years 9 & 10
Part 1: marketing & misinformation. How media and marketing shape food choices. Students critically analyse packaging and social media food and supplement marketing, and build a healthy relationship with food amid the noise.
Part 2: food & mood. How diet, the gut microbiome and the vagus nerve connect to mental health, drawing on the SMILES trial. Students explore 10 plant-based foods to ADD, plus the role of sleep, movement and connection.
level 3 · typically Years 11 & 12
Part 1: building sustainable health practices. Food for attention, energy, stress and immunity, plus realistic, sustainable meal prep for the senior years.
Part 2: meal prep in practice: senior school cook-off. A hands-on 75-minute cook-off for one class of up to 25 students. Needs a food tech kitchen.

Our Tier 2 early-intervention program: six weeks, in your school, for small groups of up to 10 students showing early signs of concern about their body image or relationship with food. Your wellbeing team identifies the students, we run the program, and together we monitor needs and refer on where needed.
